A major activity of the Textile Specialty Group is its program at the AIC annual meeting. The TSG presents a full-day program with papers on a wide range of textile conservation subjects, materials research and analysis, case studies, techniques, costume and upholstery conservation, archeological and ethnographic issues and others.
All individuals working in the conservation profession or interested in learning more about conservation are invited to become Associate members of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. Professional Associates and Fellows are elected to these professional membership levels through a peer review process. Students and Retirees are eligible for special dues rates. Institutional members are also welcome.

The specialty groups-Book and Paper, Paintings, Textiles, Objects, Wooden Artifacts, Architecture, Photographic Materials and Electronic Media-provide a technical focus for educational exchange through programs and publications. The Conservators in Private Practice specialty group offers a forum for discussion of issues of particular relevance to the private conservator, and the Research and Technical Studies specialty group promotes the interaction of conservators and scientists and the advancement of scientific research in the field of conservation.
