1. The process of changing the physical properties of a resin or adhesive by chemical reaction, which may be in the form of condensation, polymerization, or vulcanization, and which is usually accomplished by the action of heat and catalytic action, alone or in combination, with or without pressure. 2. Methods such as BRINING ,DRY-SALTING ,PASTE DRYING , and WET-SALTING , used to prevent putrefactive or other damage to hides or skins before tanning. See also: DRYING (1) .
