one on and two off

A method of constructing a tube for a HOLLOW , in which a strip of paper, linen, cambric, etc., three times the width of the spine of the book is cut, the middle width of which is glued to the spine, the two end widths being folded over the middle and glued to each other. This method is generally superior to ONE ON AND ONE OFF , and, although it does not offer adequate support to the spine of a large book, it is adequate for some light, thin volumes, depending upon the weight of the paper. See also: TWO ON AND ONE OFF . (236 , 335 )
