publisher's endpapers

Ordinary edition ENDPAPERS on which the publisher printed advertisements, and especially the titles of other books he published. Publisher's endpapers were a fashion of the middle 19th century, and were used on almanacs, inexpensive editions of the classics, popular novels, publishers' series, and the like. In a strict sense they are not really endpapers at all. (217 )
