Composed
of sixteen
members elected for a period of three years [the
president, two vice-presidents, the treasurer and eleven
ordinary members and the chairperson of the Advisory Committee
(who is an ex-officio member)], the Executive Council is
the governing body of ICOM and generally meets twice a year.
It ensures that the decisions and resolutions of the General
Assembly are given effect and that ICOM's Strategic
Plan is carried out. It takes action to implement
the proposals and recommendations of the Advisory Committee
and, if necessary, co-ordinates the work of National Committees,
International Committees and Regional Organisations. ICOM
members may participate as observers in the meetings of
the Executive Council. |
