OSG-L -- AIC Objects Specialty Group Discussion

About OSG-L
English (USA)

OSG-L is a closed list, available only to members in good standing of the Objects Specialty Group--including the Archaeological Discussion Group--and the Wooden Artifacts Specialty Group of the American Institute of Conservation for Historic and Artistic Works. This list is intended as an aid to members looking for help with specific questions, new ideas and generally be a forum for more communication among objects conservators.
OSG-L is intended for professionals. Subscribers are expected to interact accordingly. Blatant advertising, personal attacks ("flames"), off-topic posts and obscene language will not be tolerated. Subscribers who violate this warning will be removed from the list at the discretion of the listowner
Images and attachments are acceptable only if they are necessary for you to convey your point, that is, if they add information that will help others to understand the topic under discussion.
Graphics files such as JPEG, GIF, PNG, and PDF, as well attachments such as data files, spreadsheets etc. must be of reasonable size--if your file is larger than 150K, consider whether your message can be conveyed with a smaller file. Word processing documents are acceptable only as enhancements to your message text; they should not to be used as the body of your message. Keep in mind that not everyone will be able to view these files easily and it may be more efficient to note in your message that you have graphics that can be sent out to individuals on request. If a member sends numerous graphics files or other attachments to the list they will be warned, if they persist they will be removed at the discretion of the list owner.
Note that all messages are archived and made available via web to subscribers. Once archived, messages become part of the historical record of discourse in this field and will not be removed from the archives.

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the OSG-L Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
