Reproductive Hazards in the Arts and Crafts

"Miscarriages, birth defects, sterility, loss of sex drive--all of these and more have in recent years been associated with certain chemical exposures. Many of these same chemicals can be found in materials used by artists, theater craftspeople and conservators." A recent article published by the Center for Occupational Hazards in New York covers such areas as: What is a toxic substance; What are the reproductive effects of toxic substances; Tips for the workplace; and a Work area checklist. Conservation Education for Libraries

In an effort to help libraries cope with problems of collection deterioration, UC and CLASS announce a joint educational program intended to assist CLASS member institutions. A Conservation Hotline is now available which gives emergency reference and technical information. (415)642-4946 between 8 am and 5 pm.

Archival Supplies

Paper Technologies, Inc. will be offering archival products for distribution in the Western States.
