WCG Outreach Booth

Have a heritage event? Have our booth!

The Washington Conservation Guild’s outreach booth is available for heritage events in the DC metro area. We do not do appraisals but we do provide volunteers from our membership to staff the booth and offer advice on the care and handling of personal collections.

We’ve been to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration Heritage week, the Treasured Heirloom Event sponsored by the Historical Society of Frederick County, Maryland Day at the St. Clement's Island Museum, the Festival of the Building Arts at the National Building Museum, and the bi-centennial celebration at the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.

Our booth is 10 feet wide and 8 feet tall, but can be configured to fit in a number of spaces. We have brochures from the American Institute for Conservation that describe care and handling for a variety of collections, and while we can’t offer consultations on specific items because we don’t always have the right specialists available, our membership is generally knowledgeable, and happy to engage in discussion.

Two months' notice is preferable, so we can organize volunteers to staff the booth.
